Madison, WI, Oct. 7, 2019 – The Wisconsin BioFuels Association (WBFA) commends
President Trump on directing the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to follow the
law and for the successfully negotiated agreement on the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS)
announced by the EPA and the U.S. Department of Agriculture on October 4.
EPA stated that the negotiated agreement will expand domestic energy production and improve
the RFS program that will result in sustained biofuel production to help American farmers and
that the much-anticipated deal was met with widespread praise from lawmakers throughout the
Corn Belt.
“We only succeed when our local economies are productive, and we will continue to encourage
lawmakers to find ways that help alleviate the struggles facing farm families. At a time when
American Agriculture is struggling legislators need to look at all options to support our farmers”,
said Erik Huschitt, chief executive officer of Badger State Ethanol and president of WBFA. “The
announcement from the Trump Administration is a win for Wisconsin, and a win for farmers and
members of the biofuels industry.”
