MADISON – Wisconsin BioFuels Association (WBFA) praised the President’s decision today, setting the necessary regulatory steps in motion to allow for year-round sales of E15. E15 is a blend of gasoline with 15% ethanol. It is currently offered at a growing number of retail stations in Wisconsin.

Neal Kemmet, CEO of Ace Ethanol and WBFA officer, issued the following statement:

Farmers, ethanol producers, and fuel retailers from across the country have been advocating for year-round sales of higher ethanol blends like E15 to provide consumers with more options at the pump, help clean our air, and improve economic conditions across rural America.

Outdated regulations currently require retailers in many areas of the country to stop selling E15 during the summer months. Reforming this regulation will give consumers year-round access to a fuel that has more octane and is often sold for about five cents less per gallon.

Contrary to claims from the oil industry, this regulatory relief will also lead to less air emissions, as E15 produces less evaporative and tailpipe emissions than today’s standard fuels.

We will be doing everything in our power to encourage the EPA to move quickly to implement this regulatory reform.
